In December 2011, we were pleased to submit a bid to run a Programme Management Office function at a London commissioner.
The commissioner was faced with a challenging financial agenda and was seeking some additional management support that would allow it to identify the savings required to return to long-term financial balance. In April 2013, its commissioning function and all budgets were due to be transferred to the new Clinical Commissioning Group and it was therefore essential to these were handed over in good shape.
We were awarded the contract following a tender in January 2012. We then worked with the PCT to review all budgets, identify potential savings and ensure the plans were put in place to deliver these over the next 3 years. Our input was supplemented by the experience of our associate Cath McLaughlin, who comes from a nursing background and is an expert in clinical reform.
